I went to the SSRN Hospital in Mauritius for my elective.
Obvious good points: it's a tropical paradise, with long white sandy
beaches and crystal blue water, great food, great drink, great water
sports. Hospital was laid back, and keen for me to get involved with
practical things like minor ops and suturing. Great place to go for a
chilled, relaxed elective.
Bad points: Not many..it may help to speak French (I don't!), the medical
presentations were not very different to UK (admittedly I was in
Orthopaedics), not a good place to go if you want to be busy doing stuff
the whole time. Can't think of any others right now!
