PHEMTEC 2018

Launched by medical students with a passion for pre-hospital emergency medicine, PHEMTEC 2018 brought together delegates for a day of talks and workshops by leading A&E consultants.

Hands-on teaching included the use of EZ-IOs, FAST ultrasound, airway management techniques, and performing thoracotomies.

Speakers gave talks on a range of topics, including the realities of tropical wilderness medicine.

With multiple FAST Ultrasound Scanners available, delegates took turns in small groups to examine each other.

A variety of airway management techniques were available to try, from oropharyngeal adjuncts to video-assisted blade laryngoscopy and intubation.

Delegates were split into small teams to treat patients in simulated scenarios, receiving feedback on their performance.
