Hello, we're your MedSoc Executive Committee!
Welcome to MedSoc! We have created this page to introduce the society and ourselves, the committee, so that you know a little bit more about us. MedSoc is a student-run society committed to helping all students get the most out of your time here at WMS. This ranges from socials to seminars, societies to sports, charities to chilling out – MedSoc has something for everyone.
Here’s a brief insight into what MedSoc can offer you.
Throughout the year, MedSoc run various social events so you can get to know your peers and the rest of the medical school. Whether that’s donning your finest for one of our illustrious balls, getting the gang together and hitting the town or ordering in some pizza and sticking a film on in the lecture hall; MedSoc runs social events for everyone to get involved with. We also be create MedSoc families by pairing second year students with first year students.
Peer teaching is huge at WMS. Senior students run teaching seminars on a weekly basis which have proven to be incredibly helpful in the past. There are also seminars for those with non-science backgrounds, to help get you used to the new terminology and concepts you'll encounter. MedSoc organise peer teaching so that you can engage with lecture-taught content in smaller groups and have more time to dissect it all. Your teachers can provide you with helpful tips and tricks at mastering the course content for your exams. There are also societies that run Anatomy and Physiology days at the end of each block as well as a Clinical Skills society for all your OSCE needs!
Welfare and Wellbeing
Your wellbeing is of paramount importance to us at MedSoc and we are here to offer you support whenever you need it. MedSoc will be running drop-in sessions and organising wellbeing events. We can also signpost you to University run services available to you. More on this further down.
