EPSRC Impact Acceleration Account
The EPSRC Impact Acceleration Account (IAA) supports a range of activities to maximise impact from EPSRC funding. IAA funding is expected to add value to existing funding and take advantage of new opportunities, including interdisciplinary working and engagement of new collaborators. All IAA-funded projects must demonstrate a link to previous or current EPSRC funding.
The EPSRC IAA aims to increase the impact of EPSRC funded research outputs by:
- Supporting activities that enable impact to be achieved in an effective and timely manner, including secondments and people exchange
- Strengthening user engagement
- Supporting knowledge exchange and commercialisation at early stages of progressing research outputs and outcomes to the point when they would be supported by other funding
- Strengthening the exchange of knowledge through culture and capability development.
Funding is available from 1 April, 2020 to 31 March, 2022. All funding must have been fully defrayed by 31 March, 2022, as per the funder’s rules.
The EPSRC IAA has a number of different funding opportunities available, which are listed below.

STFC Impact Acceleration Account
The STFC Impact Acceleration Account (IAA), similar to the EPSRC IAA supports a range of activities to maximise impact from STFC funding. Again IAA funding is expected to add value to existing funding and take advantage of new opportunities, including interdisciplinary working and engagement of new collaborators.
Some of the rules around STFC funding are subtly different to the EPSRC funds, the amounts available are lower, and the approval mechanisms are different.
