A new research article first-authored by Arman Rahkimov is out with the Journal of Personality Assesssment. The paper, entitled "The Self-Compassion Scale: Validation and Psychometric Properties within the Exploratory Structural Equation Modeling Framework", looks at the structure and function of a popular instrument for measuring self-compassion, with important clinical and research implications. who just passed her PhD viva with flying colours!

Laura Chandler has joined our team as a PhD student, studying sleep and mental health in workplace and university settings. Her other supervisors are Prof Caroline Meyer and Dr Lukasz Walasek. Her PhD studentship is funded by the EPSRC and she'll be based at the WMG and hotdesking in H1.44.

This joint PhD between Psychology and WMG will present an opportunity for the successful student to develop and pilot a sleep intervention for sub-clinical insomnia in students at university and adults at work, as part of the Psychology-led Student Mental Health and Resilience in Transition (SMaRT) project and the WMG-led Midlands Engine Mental Health and Productivity project. Based on the insomnia literature and previous research carried out by the proposed supervisors, the successful student will investigate ways to enhance motivation to improve sleep health and the effectiveness of sleep hygiene in terms of content and delivery format.
