In Memoriam: Josh Hill
We are deeply saddened to confirm that Josh Hill, a second year student studying Data Science has passed away in hospital overnight on Monday 10 June, following a fall in the Mathematical Sciences Building.
Head of Statistics Professor Barbel Finkenstadt said:
“The whole department is deeply saddened and distressed by the death of this lovely, gentle and kind young man. Our thoughts are with Josh’s family.”

Warwick Mathematical Scientist wins prize for display in Parliament
Francesca Crucinio, a researcher from the Department of Statistics at the University of Warwick struck Bronze at a competition in the House of Commons, for the excellence of her mathematical research, walking away with the £750 Bronze prize.

Congratulations to Lewis Rendell and David Selby on their Google internships
Congratulations to Warwick Statistics PhD students Lewis Rendell and David Selby for obtaining Quantitative Analyst internships with Google (in Zurich and Paris respectively) for this summer!
PhD Open day 2017 - November 22
On Wednesday 22/11, the Department of Statistics will hold a PhD open day, from 1430 to 1630 in C0.06.
The programme will be as following:
- 1430 Tea / coffee, opportunity to meet current PhD students, talk to professors.
- 1445 Talks by DGS/Director of OxWaSP DTC (Warwick) about doing a PhD at Warwick.
- 1515 Summary of applications procedure by Admissions Director
- 1530 Two talks by Warwick Statistics PhD students.
Also 10 minutes from Murray Pollock on Gregynog. - 1550 Questions
