John Copas Conference

General Information

The Department of Statistics at the University of Warwick is holding an invitational one-day conference on Friday 8th January 2010, with the title 'Statistical Inference in Theory and Application'. This event is to mark the retirement of John Copas from teaching and administration but he will remain attached to the department as an active researcher and Honorary Professor.

The organizer of the conference is Tony Lawrance, email:, to whom general enquiries should be made.

Invitations to the conference have been extended to those known to have a connection with John in any of a number of ways. If any reader thinks that some connection may not be generally known, please contact the organizer.

The conference will take place in the Department of Statistics, Zeeman Building, Gibbet Hill Road main campus of the University of Warwick. After the meeting, the department invites participants to a reception, and there will be a celebration dinner at the nearby Radcliffe House University Hotel and Conference Centre. Overnight accommodation may be booked at Radcliffe House or at local B&Bs, suggestions below.
