Mark leads WMG’s initiatives focused on helping SMEs grow through research led innovation and developing new skills. In over 10 years at WMG this has included developing and operating an online eMarketplace with over 12,000 members, constructing a 5,000m2 digital laboratory, leading the International Institute for Product and Service Innovation. His work has culminated in launching over 10 tech start-ups, working with hundreds of small businesses and creating, or safeguarding, over a 1,000 industry jobs. Mark has experience of bringing innovative research to market, running knowledge transfer programmes and helping to grow small businesses. He has a background in manufacturing systems, previously working for International Paper, Hasbro and BMW UK.

Scott has 20 years' experience of taking Digital Technology solutions to market for various SMEs, including running his own micro-enterprise. Most recently, he was responsible for the delivery of combined social media, cloud computing and smartphone App projects for telecommunication and energy companies across Europe.

He is a Master Black Belt Lean & Six Sigma practitioner who has proven track record of successful Lean deployments in multi-site, multi-cultural environments, defining and leading improvement strategies within complex organisations.

His areas of expertise include digital-led business improvement using cloud technologies and web-enabled mobile applications, sensors systems, computer vision, Industry 4.0 and track-and-trace applications using NFC, RFID and barcodes.

Phil has over 25 years’ experience in precision engineering, as well as knowledge in Additive Layer Manufacturing / 3D Printing. He is responsible for the efficient operation of the IIPSI Technical Hall as well as dealing with all staff and health and safety related issues for the area.
Paul Lansdell

Dr Paul Lansdell is an Innovation Manager based at Warwick University in the WMG SME support team. He is a metallurgist with materials and electrochemistry experience, having worked in a variety of industries in many different roles. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to any problems he may address. A chartered engineer for over 30 years with specialist subjects encompassing casting, surface engineering failure analysis and railway engineering. He is widely experienced in supply quality engineering supporting supply chain activities from suppliers based in the UK, Europe and China. He is an active Director of the Institute of Materials Finishing, having been President of the Institute during 2010 – 2013. His interests include fuel cells, the light weighting of all transport infrastructures and the development of a circular manufacturing activity minimising the carbon footprint of all engineering activities.

Kylash Makenji

Dr Kylash Makenji is an Innovation Manager based in the WMG SME Group, he is an experienced Chartered Engineer working in the development of innovative polymer materials and processing techniques. Kylash has a strong industrial background, as a tier 1, supply chain, manufacturing of high volume products to Automotive OEM’s. His experience to date has been around the processing of plastic material using injection moulding & extrusion, with a strong emphasis on technical and novel hybrid processes. Kylash also has the ability to troubleshoot, problem solve manufacturing issues, and is able to characterise materials using a range of techniques. Kylash is passionate about the elimination, reduction, reuse and recycling of waste plastic materials, he is a member of the BPF Education and Skills Committee. He has numerous peer reviewed publications, conference papers and book chapters.

Jen has a strong academic background in chemical sciences and experience of supporting a Government funded Research Programme Grant. She joined the WMG during April 2017 to set up and oversee the delivery of the SME Group's Summer Internship Programme.

Liz has over 20 years of experience working with organisations, across the UK and Europe, to improve their processes. Her career started in a technology transfer position, working with a local SME in the paper industry, before moving to a more focused manufacturing role in the oil and gas sector. Latterly, Liz has provided support, consultancy and training in process improvement and innovation across a range of industries.

Dr Paul Milne

Paul has 19 years’ experience of working in Industry and Government in development and research environments in defence and aerospace applications. Paul has extensive experience of developing new and innovative materials and has a track record of developing materials and coatings with enhanced optical, mechanical and adhesive properties. During this time he has built up considerable experience of product development processes. Paul has lead projects, collaborations and research teams and was most recently a director in an SME specialising in novel coating technology.

Jennie Murray

Jennie joined the team in 2016 as a design specialist, armed with a portfolio containing award winning designs and industry experience in new product development, branding and creative consultancy.

Helping corporate teams realise the strategic value of design, Jennie has co-developed and leads the innovation programme, ‘Create, Test & Launch’ (CTL). These interactive workshops combine principles of Lean Start-up and Design Thinking tools to enable businesses identify new profitable opportunities through to the development of market ready solutions.

David is an Electronics Engineer with 15 years' experience working in both industry and academia. David has worked in Germany on the latest in-home entertainment systems and sensor electronics and in the UK on robotics, actuation controllers, USB devices and LED lighting systems.

Previously worked at Coventry University Enterprises supporting various ERDF projects, and at WMG the Product Innovation Accelerator and the Digital Innovation for Manufacturing projects.

Dan has worked for the High Value Manufacturing Catapult since 2012. He has been technical lead for a diverse range of projects including big data technologies and simulation, involving multiple project partners from different sectors. He has an academic background in statistics and data science and applies this knowledge to support the digital manufacturing strategy at WMG.
