I am currently the Continuous Improvement Manager at United Technologies Aerospace Systems (UTAS), who are in the business of Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul of Engine Control Systems. At the time of starting the Master's programme I had recently been put into a management role. I also had a BSc in Manufacturing Engineering from Wolverhampton University.

I chose the WMG Master's in Engineering Business Management because there had already been a few people from my business on the programme and they said it was a fantastic course to do. I also wanted to further my career and gain knowledge in other areas of business that I hadn’t had exposure to.

To be honest I didn’t know what to expect, but I knew that it was going to be hard work and Warwick would have high standards of teaching and expectations of work produced by students. When I did my first degree there was a substantial amount of work covered that I have not used since, however, on the Master's course the subjects are all relevant and I have applied vast amounts in my day to day activities.

It has been beneficial not only on a professional level but on a personal level. It has helped me in my career and in adding value to my business through my learning: understanding business requirements, dealing with certain situations, understanding other important elements of business, and also in developing my leadership skills. You can finish a module one week and be applying it in your business the next. That’s the beauty of the subjects.

Studying at Warwick is an excellent opportunity to help people achieve their potential. It gives you a well-rounded view of business and the considerations you need to give when operating in this environment. If you want to get the best out of the course and do yourself justice then you need to dedicate time for study. Students must remember they are investing time in themselves.

Finally, it is hard work, but if it was easy then everyone would have one and it wouldn’t be worth doing.
