Biography

Danielle is a Project Engineer based in the Centre for Imaging, Metrology and Additive Technologies and Forensic Centre for Digital Scanning and 3D printing, WMG, University of Warwick. She is also a member of the Centre for Operational Police Research.

Danielle specialises in applying radiological techniques for the characterisation and evaluations of various materials including bone. Over the last ten years, she has carried out various forensic and anatomical research as well as supporting numerous criminal cases across the UK - one of which resulted in the Chief Constable's Award.

Much of her research has been published in international, peer-reviewed journals including Forensic Science International which she has also reviewed for. Danielle is currently supervising two PhD students, Patrick Home and Kirsty Alsop, who are conducting research in forensic toolmark analysis and digital crime scene capture.

Danielle holds a Master’s degree in Systems Engineering where she was awarded 97% for her undergraduate thesis titled: “Microscopic Toolmark Analysis of Sharp Force Trauma - The Application of Reverse Engineering and Micro-CT” which was later published.

Following her undergraduate, Danielle completed a scholarship-funded PhD in the Department of Psychology supervised by Professor Derrick Watson, Dr Kim Wade and Professor Mark Williams. During her PhD she researched forensic memory detection, a technique for detecting a suspect's recognition of crime information, for which she received the annual Faculty PhD Thesis Impact Prize. During her doctorate, Danielle taught on a range of Psychology modules, supervised project students, worked on numerous research contracts and served as a reservist in the British Army.
