WMG SME Group Internship Programme 2020

WMG SME Group Internship Programme 2020 | Tom Lockhart tells you everything you need to know

Following the success of last year’s internship cohort, we’re pleased to announce more internship opportunities rolling out for both businesses and students. In just four weeks, we have been able to secure a number of new projects with businesses, showing the demand for this resource in the industry, especially in these challenging times.

The programme is designed to allow companies and students to work together to overcome a business challenge or investigate ways of improving business performance. Interns are supervised by an expert member of the WMG team to ensure objectives are met and to provide access to our world-leading facilities. This means participating companies get the benefit of both the new resource and industry-leading knowledge.

What’s in it for the business?

We work with the business to identify their challenges, scope out a project and set clear objectives for a short, but focused piece of work.

Following that, we support the company to recruit a talented student to work full time on the project, these typically range from 8 to 12 weeks. Interns meet regularly with their WMG supervisor and the firm’s management team to direct the project and ensure it has lasting effects for the company.

Throughout, the student and business will have access to WMG’s world-leading facilities and specialist equipment on the University of Warwick campus.

At the end of the project, the business will receive a final report containing a summary of the intern’s activities and the outcomes of their work, as well as key findings and recommendations for further work. Our manufacturing experts will be on hand to assist the company in taking forward these next steps.

What’s in it for the intern?

Our internship opportunities are open to students and recent graduates. Current projects are listed on our opportunity webpage, where details and objectives, as well as a person specification for each, can be found.

Suitable candidates will be interviewed by a selection panel involving both WMG and the company.

The successful intern will be integrated into the business and spend the majority of their time there in order to experience a real business environment.

The intern will receive invaluable one-to-one training from their WMG supervisor, a competitive wage and obtain work experience that will greatly enhance their CV and build connections in the industry.
