In the current economic climate we are still seeing investment being made in training employees to ensure they have the skills in order for businesses to survive and prosper. Having managers who can progress to leadership roles and contribute to company growth is invaluable. Employers are in the driving seat, they have the control to determine how their employees enhance their career development.
“No matter what your background WMG offers professional and executive programmes that will meet your career and business aspirations”, comments Gareth Taylor, Professional and Executive Programmes Manager at WMG, University of Warwick.
WMG has been educating the leaders of tomorrow for over 30 years with programmes that are focused and based on real world scenarios. Our world renowned part-time programmes are designed to give a broader management experience, making the difference between middle management and inspirational leadership within the business, engineering and technology sectors. They are founded on industrial and business relevance, having been developed in close collaboration with over 500 global partner companies, and underpinned by academic excellence. The unique combination of industry and academic experience will provide a stepping stone to elevate your career to a higher level. The ability to select from a large pool of modules, follow a particular specialism, to start a course at any time of the year and to take a break in the education path, all add to the high level of flexibility that is offered.
“There are two routes”, he says, “offered by WMG to gain a Master’s; the Master’s Foundation Programme or the Master’s degree (MSc)”. The former is an ideal qualification if you are an experienced manager or supervisor and are wishing to gain a Master’s degree but lack any formal academic qualifications. The programme has been designed to enhance the skills you have already gained through your work experience to date. Gareth comments ”The modules covered give the flexibility to focus on your needs and compliment your existing knowledge. Assessment is by work based assignments, applying the ideas, concepts, tools and techniques learnt into your work environment”. On completion of the programme you receive a Post-Experience Certificate in Engineering Business Management which gives you direct access to progress onto one of our Master’s degrees.
“Our integrated portfolio of Master’s degrees are specifically designed to develop the management and leadership skills of those managers wishing to progress to a senior management position” says Gareth. In total there are six MSc specialisms available: Engineering Business Management, International Technology Management, Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Process Business Management, Programme and Project Management and Supply Chain & Logistics Management. Some of these MSc specialisms are approved by professional bodies.
