The purpose of this module is to introduce participants to the technical, analytic and management concepts used in the management of assets.
The module will first look at the definitions and concepts used in asset management, from the definition of an asset through basic philosophies such as RCM to the concepts underlying strategic asset management.
The module will examine the different tools that are available to support asset performance analysis and describe the technologies that can be used to assist in identifying performance problems.
Maintenance analysis, planning and execution will be addressed next and the module will look at how design changes can be used to raise asset availability and make maintenance easier. Lifecycle costing plays a large part in asset management and so maintenance costing will be addressed. Finally asset management systems, as part of a strategic management solution, will be described.
The module will use a combination of lectures and seminars to cover the material.
