The aim of this module is to equip the students with an understanding of key elements of engineering professional practice as a cyber security professional. The key areas the module aims to cover are:
- Business practice – the role of finance and human resources, budgeting, investment appraisal and recruitment, continuous professional development and professional registration
- Project management – understanding requirement capture, project lifecycles, estimating, procurement, project reporting and control
- Ethics and sustainability – their role in an engineering and security context and the Engineering Council’s requirements for professional registration
- Safety and security awareness – the need to promote a safe and security culture, the professional engineers role, legislation, standards and best practice
The UK legal framework, computer and security related legislation and regulation, evidence and the role of an expert witnesses.
