Practical Cyber-Physical Systems

The aim of this module is to provide the student with the knowledge and skills to analyse, design and evaluate cyber-physical systems using sound engineering and cyber security principles.

This module uses case studies to examine the design, operation and security of complex and complicated systems found in manufacturing and the national infrastructure sectors (e.g. utilities, transport, and energy). It will examine the interaction between information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) and the use of cloud and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies within these systems. Examination of the role of standards in the architecture, design and security of these systems will be undertaken.
