Richard Bell, Production Manager, Bentley Motors

I decided to enrol on the Engineering Business Management MSc at WMG after completing a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Engineering at Staffordshire University, as I was still keen to develop myself academically to support my career aspirations.

My company at the time, BAE Systems, has a long standing relationship with the University of Warwick and I was able to speak to various people from within the organisation about WMG and their positive experiences.

I had been in a Line Management role with BAE Systems at their Radway Green Munitions facility for two years and believed that an EBM MSc would assist my progression into a higher management position. I have since moved on to a Production Manager role at Bentley Motors that I believe my experiences at WMG supported.

WMG was the ideal place for me to undertake my MSc as the modules on offer could be tailored to suit my educational requirements. I was particularly keen on modules such as Lean Principles and Application, as a lot of my job role involves Continuous Improvement responsibilities and I was able to deliver these as a result of my learning at WMG.

The network you can build up with fellow students, guest speakers from industry, and staff is a huge benefit; every module is an opportunity to meet new people and form lasting relationships. I tell people who are interested in an MSc that I found the WMG programme challenging but extremely rewarding.

The learning environment is excellent and I found it to be professional but relaxed, and the facilities of the wider University are all available to part-time students. The support staff and lecturers are a credit to the University and are always happy to help, and I always felt that I could turn to them in my hour of need!
