Seme Simbeye's Story

Profile"Pursuing studies whilst working is never easy but in my experience I found the helpful lecturers and support staff made my whole period of study that much easier"
Seme Simbeye, Information Processes Manager, Birmingham City University

I work as Information Processes Manager at Birmingham City University. I’ve worked at the University for nine years, four of those being in my current role. Prior to doing my MSc at WMG, I did my BSc (Hons) in Business Information Technology at Birmingham City University.

The decision to do the MSc was made in order to obtain a better understanding of project and programme management, as this was a big part of my job. I also had a personal desire to pursue a career in this field.

I found the whole learning experience very enjoyable. The structure, the lecturers and the depth of the teaching I felt were very good. The instances where we had talks from external speakers (who in most cases were leaders in their respective organisations), I thought brought good insight into the workings of their organisation when it came to the subject area, and there was a very good link up between the theoretical and the practical.

I’ve gained a lot from completing the MSc programme and I'm more confident in discharging my duties in my role. My organisation is currently going through a period of change and my recently acquired skills and knowledge of change management are coming in handy in choosing change methodologies, leading teams, planning and in the general managing of multiple projects.

Pursuing studies whilst working is never easy but I found the helpful lecturers and support staff made my whole period of study that much easier.
