Quality Management (QM)

 

Introduction

This module treats Quality and reliability as the economic achievement of customer satisfaction and as such, is a fundamental management objective.

The module is designed to emphasis the importance of management style and individuals' attitudes to Quality and reliability, and presents current techniques that are available to managers.

 

Objectives: On completion, the participant will be able to: 

  1. Describe and explain the factors that make Quality a necessary management objective

  2. Describe and explain the distinctions of "Scientific" and "Human" Management Philosophies in the context of :

  3. The role of the individual and management

  4. Customer/supplier relationship

  5. Continuous improvement.

  6. Describe and explain "variability", recognising that variability reduction is a key approach to sustained quality achievement

  7. Recognise and distinguish applications for techniques in the planning, control and improvement of processes

  8. Recognise when it is appropriate to seek expert help or to improve their own working knowledge of particular techniques, to ensure that appropriate data, techniques and information are being used to plan, control and improve processes.

  2. Designing for Quality

  3. Quality Standards

  4. Planning for Quality - techniques including : FMECA, QFD

  5. The tools of Quality - techniques, including statistical process control

  6. Case study

 

Duration: 2.5 Days

Assessment: Post Module Assignment
