Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)

 

Introduction

The importance of plant Maintenance in the manufacturing environment has increased rapidly as companies respond to competitive pressures by seeking to increase productivity. This course module explains the techniques and applications of Total Productive Maintenance, which is an innovative system for equipment maintenance that optimises effectiveness, eliminates breakdowns, and promotes autonomous operator maintenance through day-to-day activities.

 

Objectives: On completion, the participant will be able to: 

  1. Understand the elements of an effective programme of maintenance

  2. Understand how to measure and maximise equipment effectiveness

  3. Understand the six big losses in equipment in the manufacturing process

  4. Appreciate the advanced maintenance tools and techniques (i.e. condition monitoring. Software tools RCM, etc) currently available to industry.

  5. Contributing to the implementation of a maintenance improvement programme.
