Engineering Business Management

Leading to a postgraduate award in Engineering Business Management, this programme allows the greatest flexibility to SMEs in terms of module options, enabling participants to tailor their choices to their own needs and to the needs of their workplace.

Examples might include:

Leading Change
Understand the effect that organisation, culture and structure has on the ability to change, and recognise how people react to change and understand ways to gain commitment. Select and apply strategic approaches to change, differentiating between operational tools and techniques. Understand how to evaluate and learn from the effects of change.

Innovation
Understand the relationship between innovation and competitive performance. Use (and create new) tools to support innovation in all areas of the business. Develop personal innovation action plans from an understanding of how your own behaviour, and that of your peer groups and management, promotes or stifles creativity.

Lean Principles and Application
This module examines the principles, techniques, key tools of “Lean” and how they might apply in a variety of processes and sectors. The strategic importance of creating “lean enterprise” is explored as well as the challenges associated with achieving and sustaining this. The module also provides scope for participants to explore how they might appropriately apply Lean in their own organisations.

Strategic Marketing
Effective marketing is essential for survival and prosperity. Everyone in the organisation contributes to marketing and this module introduces the marketing concept as a philosophy of business management and considers the techniques and strategies available to the marketing practitioner.

Project Planning, Management and Control
This module provides an appreciation of the issues and current techniques for successful project planning and control, including the selection and motivation of project teams.


Delivery and Assessment

We firmly believe in practical learning and not lectures alone. You should expect to participate in group work, exercises and simulations as well as learning from the experiences of visiting speakers from a range of industries.

Modules run from Monday-Friday, usually finishing after lunch on the final day. Courses are delivered at the University of Warwick campus and you will be studying alongside peers from organisations of all sizes, from a variety of sectors.

All of our modules are assessed through company-based post module assignments. This enables participants to apply their learning directly back into their work environment and to embed their knowledge in a real world manner applicable to both themselves and their company.


Fees

The cost per participant is £4,200. SME members of the GrowthAccelerator Scheme may claim match funding of up to £2,000 towards this.

A residential option is available on request.
