Is it for you?
This degree programme offers a flexible and non-traditional path into university education, and welcomes participants from a range of ages and company backgrounds. We have students on the course who have recently completed Apprenticeship schemes, some who are on Higher Apprenticeship pathways, and more experienced staff looking to further their career potential. To enrol on the programme, you must have the support of your employer, and have a good standard in Maths and Physics (e.g. A Level). If you don't have a Maths or Physics qualification, we can assess your ability using our own entry tests. We can provide practice tests and online information to help you with this.
Delivery and Assessment
For the first two years, you'll study six core engineering modules per year. You will take both examinations and undertake work-based assignments. Across years three and four, you will select ten modules that are more specialised and individual to your learning needs. The emphasis here is on work-based assignments and projects, rather than formal written exams. Each module will run over five full days (Monday-Friday), at WMG. In addition to the normal lectures, practical lab sessions, seminars and tutorials, you will have access to an online "Virtual Learning Environment" for further support between modules.
Entry Assessment and Practice Tests
To qualify for a place on this programme, you will sit a Maths entrance test. Generally speaking, the entrance test standard is A-Level Maths. There are several practice tests available, please contact us via email@example.com if you would like to access them.
The Applied section of the degree title initially attracted me to the AEP as I was keen to take my studies and prove their relevance within the company. I have not been disappointed. The course so far has helped me develop a strong fundamental knowledge in key modules such as mechanics, energy methods and electronics benefiting my maintenance role within company. Engineering Business and design have also given me a broader understanding of how engineering companies operate as a whole. The first year of the AEP has been a challenging and rewarding experience.

I chose AEP because of the reputation of a Warwick degree and the course content and structure. “Signalling combines both electrical and mechanical aspects. Nevertheless, there is a tendency to concentrate on one or the other. The AEP has given me a much better understanding of mechanics.
