This module will introduce the electrical and electronic systems that describe the way that electricity is transported from local and national power sources.
It will introduce the basic principle of the smart grid operation, as well as principles of diagnostics and data acquisition systems used in electrical and electronic engineering.
Issues of connection of local generation capability to a grid and simple transformer theory will be covered including three phase supply systems.
Fibre optics and lighting technology systems applied in the manufacturing, automotive, railway and aerospace industry will be discussed.
The module will be a base-line for system-orientated disciplines.
