High Value, Low Environmental Impact Manufacturing
Our International Doctorate Centre was launched in 2011 to support doctoral research in the area of High Value, Low Environmental Impact Manufacturing.
There are two qualifications delivered through this centre - the EngD International and the traditional EngD. Both are four years in duration.
As a 'Research Entrepreneur', you will be working on a challenge submitted by one of our partner companies who will act as your sponsoring for the duration of the programme. The EngD International enables you to split your time between WMG and your sponsor company as well as undertaking an international placement, to give you a broader range of experiences.
The programme combines taught modules to bring students up to best industrial practice, with original research based on real world problems. By applying rigorous analysis, innovative thinking and good management practice you will stand out above your competitors.
You will work with supervisors who have both academic and industry expertise and experience.
The EngD International programme also includes an embedded MSc in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. (This is compulsory, unless you already have a Master's degree in a suitable subject.)
The traditional EngD can be individually tailored for each student and is usually (but not always) a joint proposal by an employer and an employee.
You will split your time between WMG and your company, undertaking original research into an industrial challenge and will take a number of taught modules which can be chosen according to your needs. You will have access to WMG's cutting edge facilities, world class research expertise and international network.
There is no international placement or embedded MSc in this programme.
Students may be current employees or new recruits applying directly to WMG. For more information on how to work with us as a company or organisation, please follow the link above.
