Information Management

Learn to:
  • Apply cyber security concepts and principles in the design of a data model from user requirements
  • Demonstrate the implementation of a data model in a relational database, retaining all necessary data associations and appropriately addressing security, scalability, and performance issues.


Why is this important?

Information management is primarily concerned with:

  • the capture, digitisation, representation, organisation, transformation, and presentation of information
  • algorithms for efficient and effective access and updating of stored information
  • data modelling and abstraction
  • and physical file storage techniques

Cyber security has to be embedded within information management.


Content

Module content will cover:

  • information management concepts
  • database systems
  • data modelling
  • relational databases
  • access control


Delivery and assessment

10 half-day sessions will be regularly spaced across Year 2. Within each half day session, there will be a mix of lecture, tutorial and practical activity.

Assessment is 50% coursework and 50% examination for this module.
