DISCONTINUED: e-Health Technologies

e-Health Technologies has been discontinued. This module is not currently being run on any WMG programme.

Introduction

This module provides students with theoretical and hands-on knowledge on e-Health Technologies through exposure to various tools and technologies for developing, implementing and managing eHealth services. Students will consider the healthcare domain challenges in capturing, analysing and interpreting patient data in order to enhance patient care. Students from the different streams will be able to exploit possible new opportunities in healthcare product & services.

Objectives

On completion, successful participants wil be able to:

  • Understand various aspects of eHealth (technology, economics, security, processes, etc
  • Critically model eHealth scenarios using Unified Modelling Language
  • Apply systems thinking approach to problem solving and research within healthcare management
  • Explain the contributions that eHealth can make to enhance patient care as well as providing cost benefits
  • Demonstrate knowledge of standards in eHealth
  • Engage in informed discussion and decision making with clinicians and healthcare managers
  • Apply methodological approaches to manage eHealth projects
