It has been announced today that Professor Sudhesh Kumar, in addition to being recently appointed the Deputy Dean of Warwick Medical School, has also been appointed as the new Director of the Institute of Digital Healthcare.
The Institute of Digital Healthcare (IDH) is a partnership with NHS Midlands and East, WMG and Warwick Medical School (WMS), which aims to improve people’s health and wellbeing through the development, evaluation and use of innovative digital technologies and services.
Professor Kumar will be leading a new team that draws on a wide range of backgrounds including biomedical engineering, health informatics, biomedical imaging, healthcare virtual reality and neural engineering. He is joined by Professor Theo Arvanitis, Professor in e-Health Innovation, a specialist in biomedical engineering, neuroimaging and health informatics who also joins the Institute today. Together they will directly exploit technological advances for the healthcare sector. Working with all providers in the healthcare sector, to incubate and carry out research and development that will enable healthcare practitioners to make a real difference to peoples’ lives.
Professor Lord Bhattacharyya, Chairman of WMG, said:
I am delighted that Professor Kumar will be leading our digital healthcare research. He is an internationally recognised academic and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with him, which will see the IDH evolve into the leading collaborative healthcare research centre.”
