Bio-sensors research

Research areas

Over the last decades, micro- and nano-technologies have enabled tremendous advances in life sciences and have resulted in the development of new tools and methods to: measure ultra-low concentration of analytes, understand complex biological systems, produce biomaterials and control bioprocesses and restore biological/biomechanical function.

We specialise in translational research to ensure that such advances benefit our society as a whole. For this vision to become a reality, we work closely with biologists, clinicians, environmental scientists, physicists, chemists, engineers and social scientists from academia or industry and we propose solutions that can be easily manufactured. Due to the nature of our work, our competencies constantly evolve, however our areas of expertise can be broadly divided into:

  • Microfluidics to sense, control and perturb microenvironments
  • Micro-sensors and integration
  • Microfabrication processes
