WMG official supporter of Motorsport Industry Association Summer Reception

WMG staff with Chris Aylett CEO of the MIA, Lord Drayson Honourary President of the MIA and Alistair Fergusson Chairman of the MIAWMG was proud to be an official supporter of the Motorsport Industry Association's (MIA) Summer Reception at the House of Lords on 2 July.

 

The MIA is the world's leading trade association for the motorsport, performance engineering, services and tuning sectors and the annual Summer Reception features the presentation of the prestigious and unique Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Motorsport Industry.


NEC unveiling for Drayson electric powered race car built with help from WMG

Lola/ Drayson B12/69EVDrayson Racing Technologies and Lola will unveil an electric prototype racing car the “Lola-Drayson B12/69EV” at the Low Carbon Racing Conference at the NEC, Birmingham on Wednesday. As well as being unveiled in the Midland’s the car drew on specialist materials research by WMG researchers at the University of Warwick in Coventry.


Dr Kerry Kirwan wins premier award from the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining

Prince and prize mark month of accolades for ultimate green racing car

A Formula 3 racing car designed by researchers at WMG at the University has just received two significant accolades confirming its reputation as the ultimate green racing car.HRH The Prince of Wales meets Dr Kerry Kirwan and Dr Steve Maggs

Just two weeks ago the car was selected to be one the green technologies presented to The Prince of Wales during the Birmingham leg of HRH’s Start tour of the UK. Now today, Thursday 23rd September, the car has also been shortlisted for the THE (Times Higher) award for Outstanding Engineering Research Team of the Year.


Racing Car Puts Researcher in Pole Position for British Science Association Award

An environmentally friendly racing car has helped propel University of Warwick researcher Dr Kerry Kirwan to the award of a prestigious British Science Association Isambard Kingdom Brunel Award Lecture.

The Award Lectures are coveted prizes for talented communicators with an interesting story to tell about their research. The British Science Association has identified Dr Kirwan as one of the five scientists and engineers who have demonstrated exceptional skills in communicating to non-specialist audiences to give these prestigious lectures at the British Science Festival at the University of Surrey next week.
