Welcome
Welcome to EurOMA 2020. This is the 27th EurOMA annual conference but it is the first to be delivered virtually. We hope that whilst we may be socially distant, we can still connect intellectually. The conference theme of ‘Operations with Impact’ has never been more relevant. As the world reflects on the challenges and opportunities post COVID-19, it is increasingly apparent that Operations and Supply Chain Management (O&SCM) will be at the fore.
The conference endeavours to balance academic rigour with industrial relevance. The keynote plenary sessions have a range of leading speakers from industry and academia that will explore what impact is, how it applies to OM scholars, and more specific implications as we explore how O&SCM can support the transition to a more Circular Economy.
The 10 special sessions will provide an opportunity to share new ideas, and discuss how this may shape the research agenda for O&SCM post COVID-19.
Innovations include the opportunity for the short listed papers for the Harry Boer Best Doctoral Paper, Chris Voss Best Paper and Nigel Slack Teaching Innovation Award to present live. We have also been able to review the 200+ paper submissions, and identify the 15 short listed papers for the EurOMA 2020 IJOPM special issue. These will be announced in the closing session.
All sessions will be broadcast live, and recorded. Post conference they will be uploaded and made available through the gateway to registered participants.
We are sorry that you were not able to make it to Warwick, and enjoy the best of British weather. On behalf of Warwick Business School (WBS) and Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) we welcome you to EurOMA 2020 and wish you an enjoyable and thought provoking conference.

Theme: Managing Operations for Impact
The theme for the 2020 EurOMA conference is “Managing Operations for Impact” which acknowledges that in today’s challenging times scholars should be both relevant and rigourous.
This theme both celebrates the roots of our subject as a practical endeavour and looks forward to the way in which our subject can contribute to the challenges that face the environment, society, organizations and individuals in a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous world. EurOMA has historically catered to subjects that address environmental, societal and organizational issues and for the 2020 conference we broaden the focus to include both practical and theoretical impact.
