Paul Marshall is Head of Strategic Partnerships at WMG, with a particular focus on research led partnerships and programmes.

Paul joins WMG from the University of Birmingham where he led Research and Knowledge Transfer support for the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences for 4 years and prior to this Cranfield University where he was Head of Corporate Partnerships for 6 years. These roles have focussed on working across the interface between knowledge creation and exploitation, the development of partnerships between academic institutions and the end user community, and has included process and systems development for partnership management.

Before entering Higher Education Paul spent 25 years as part of the management team of the corporate research centre of BAE Systems; initially leading a team of researchers investigating properties of new structural materials and latterly research portfolio management and business development. Immediately after post graduate studies Paul spent a few years at TWI the engineering consulting and research organisation. Paul has a PhD in Electrochemistry from Cambridge University (CASE award with Atomic Energy Authority) an MBA from the Open University (supported by BAE Systems) and originally studied Metallurgy at Brunel University (sponsored by the British Steel Corporation).
