Research Interests

Dr Zushu Li has extensive industrial experience in process innovation for product development and in-depth understanding of the industry. He specialises in studying high temperature reactions / phenomena of multi-component systems in metal manufacturing processes. His areas of expertise are: Sustainable steel manufacturing technologies; Liquid metal processing; Steel cleanness; Mould powders for continuously casting new steel grades; Energy and materials recovery in steelmaking; Metal (steel and Aluminium) recycling.


Dr Zushu Li joined WMG, the University of Warwick in April 2016 as Principal Research Fellow / EPSRC Manufacturing Fellow after being awarded the prestigious Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) Manufacturing Fellowship (Sustainable Steel Manufacturing). Dr Zushu Li was previously Principal Scientist Steelmaking in Tata Steel R&D (based in the UK) and has worked in Tata Steel for over nine years. Prior to working for Tata Steel, Dr Li worked as a member of academic staff (Associate Professor) at Chongqing University, China, and as a researcher in Japan (Kyushu Institute of Technology) and the UK (Imperial College London). He received his PhD degree in Metallurgy from Chongqing University, China.
