Verification and Validation

2.jpgIntelligent vehicles will transform the future of transport mobility, and our research focuses on the safe and robust functionality of Advanced Driving Assistance Systems and Automated Driving systems before commercial application can be realised. The complex nature of such systems requires development of both innovative methods of evaluation and the development of dynamic test scenarios.

These potential benefits of automated systems have led the push towards their commercialisation. But in order for them to be fully realised, we need to ensure that the ADAS and AD systems have a safe and a robust functionality. This has re-focused the automotive industry’s attention on verification and validation methods, and the development of test scenarios. The complex nature of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADASs) and Automated Driving (AD) systems warrant the adoption of new and innovative means of evaluating and establishing the safety of such systems.
