The Cyber Security Centre at WMG aims to demonstrably advance knowledge of the cyber environment and to protect the human experience within it.
We aim to do this by:
- Offering world class education in cyber security and related disciplines to current and future leaders through an innovative range of educational experiences.
- Conducting world class multi-disciplinary research into the nature of the cyber environment and the protection of the human experience within it, focusing on delivering transformative solutions for governments and industry, and for individuals and communities, regionally, nationally and globally.
The CSC team has recognised expertise in cyber security, especially within government, defence and the law enforcement communities. Its areas of focus include cyber-physical systems, vehicle cyber security, smart cities, digital forensics, advanced network defence, and counterfeit protection. The CSC's approach is a multi-disciplinary one, combining academics, government and industry experts from a variety of disciplines who bring together the technical and behavioural aspects of cyber security research.
The team also provides advisory services to organisations, providing trusted, independent advice and expertise. The CSC team contributes to the wider debate on the issues around cyber security through media and press appearances, academic and industrial conferences and via other forums for debate and decision-making.
The Centre is led by Professor Tim Watson, who has over 20 years' experience in the computing industry and in academia, he has been involved with a wide range of computer systems on several high-profile projects and has acted as a consultant for some of the largest telecoms, power and oil companies.
