Roy Isbell is a successful businessman, entrepreneur and communications & security consultant with over 30 years' experience across Government, Business & Academia. Following a career in the UK Armed Forces as a secure communications and information systems engineer, he jointly established an information security company, LIRIC Associates Ltd. a company acquired by Symantec Corp in 2004. Whilst with Symantec he was responsible for establishing and growing a Global Government Services business unit.
Roy is an international advisor on Cyber including the formation of National CERTs and Enterprise Cyber Operations, A visiting Professor and founder of the De Montfort University Cyber Security Centre and an advisor and lecturer at a number of universities on Cyber Security. He currently advises the Dstl Cyber Security Program on Industry and Academic engagement as well as being the advisor and mentor for the Cyber Situational Awareness project.
In addition to his work with the Cyber Security Centre at WMG, Roy is a visiting professor at De Montfort University, business advisor to a number of cyber security companies, Chairman of a number of start-up technology companies, the publisher of “Digital Forensics Magazine” and is part of the Institute of Engineering & Technology (IET) Team producing the Code of Practice on “Cyber in the Built Environment”. His current research is into Cyber Physical Systems and investigating the possible future impact of SMART Technology on Society.
