Battery Modelling for Industrial Applications Symposium

This event will take place on 24th September 2014 in WMG's International Digital Laboratory
 

The symposium is designed to engage industry and academia in a discussion on the methods for modelling battery cells, modules, packs and systems focusing on models for understanding behaviour in applications. Whether the application is electric power grid support, renewable energy integration, electric people movers, material handling vehicles, microgrid, local building support, etc., modelling provides valuable insight into the design, selection, usage and understanding of batteries. Despite the value that accurate modelling provides, there seems to be a disconnect between the work done by industry and academia, with each sector often developing their models independently of each other. This symposium seeks to facilitate the discussion, interaction, and sharing of work between the two groups.

The symposium will include:

Presentations from leading Industrialists and Academics and Poster presentations
 
Two panel discussions
  • Academia - where they see research going
  • Industry – current tools and where they need research to go

Additionally both panels will discuss how to support greater collaboration between Academia and Industry modelling efforts
