Anand is a doctoral student at the Warwick Manufacturing Group with research interests in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and Modelling heat evolution and formation of intermetallics during laser beam welding. His doctoral research focusses on the application of numerical models in Laser Welding to identify the optimum welding parameters, its effect on the mechanical properties and the formation of intermetallics in dissimilar welding. He obtained his Master’s Degree in Metallurgical and Materials engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur (2016-2018).He has worked with leading industries such as Tata Steel, Steel Authority India Limited
(SAIL) and Rashtiya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), India involved mainly in the steel processing.
As part of research at IIT Kharagpur, a simulation based on the effect of beam oscillation on the thermal profile during Electron Beam Welding (EBW) is prepared. The developed model optimizes the welding parameter and gives the thermal profile during welding. It also gives the effect of beam oscillation on the properties of weld and suggest the better properties in terms of porosity defect.
