Associate Professor at University of Warwick and visiting Professor at University of Naples Federico II (Italy). His focus is CAD/CAM/CAE, process monitoring, closed loop control, machine learning, multi-disciplinary optimization, with specific attention for automotive assembly systems and laser joining technology. In 2010 he completed his PhD in Mechanical Engineering System at the University of Naples Federico II, Italy. Prior to that he was Teaching Assistant at MIT (Boston - USA) undertaking research on robotics, motion and constraint analysis. In 2007 he was Visiting Scholar at the Institut Supérieur de Mécanique de Paris – SUPMECA (Paris - France) working on variation simulation analysis of assembly systems. He has published 80+ papers and received four best-paper awards. In 2018 recipient of the ‘Innovista’ Award for the WMG-JLR collaborative project ‘Laser Welded Lightweight Aluminium Door for SUV’ as the most innovative project in category of ‘piloted technologies’. He has been coordinating and managing the technical development of several academic and industrial-led projects. Currently, he is responsible for the development and application of remote laser welding solutions to similar and dissimilar materials, and head of laser welding applications laboratory.
