Arnab Palit is a Research Fellow at WMG, University of Warwick. In 2015, he received his PhD in Engineering from the University of Warwick. Before that, he obtained his Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur (2009-2011). During his master, he was awarded DAAD Fellowship (Sandwich Model Scholarships for Masters' Students of IITs) for doing MTech Project in TU Dresden, Germany. He graduated with BEng in Production Engineering from Jadavpur University, India (2003-2007). He also worked as a technical associate for software testing in TechMahindra, India (2007-2009).


Currently Arnab is working on two projects: (a) In-process Quality Improvement (IPQI) which is a five years EPSRC funded collaborative project with Universities and industrial partners. This involves modelling of adaptive in-line robotic measurement system using blue light optical gage; (b) Infrared thermography (IRT) solution for manual one-sided pilot hole detection on single aisle wing assembly. This involves finite element (FE) modelling, image processing, optimisation and development of the physical system. In his PhD, he worked on computational modelling of human ventricle in diastole which involved non-linear FE modelling of soft tissue (myocardium – orthotropic, hyperplastic), optimisation, and segmentation of MRI images to construct ventricular geometry, and generation of fibre map on ventricular geometry. He is experienced in modelling the range of motion (ROM) of hip joint for Activity of daily Living (ADL) in order to identify the best cup position for total hip arthroplasty (THA). He worked on evolutionary heuristics, scheduling, product and process layout design in virtual manufacturing cell. As a multi- disciplinary researcher, his main research interests are: (a) FE modelling and multi-physics simulation (structural mechanics, heat transfer), (b) kinematics (robotic, hip joint) analysis, (c) multi-objective optimisation, evolutionary algorithm, and machine learning to solve real life problem in biomedical and manufacturing domain.
