WMG's Product Evaluation Technologies research team has been established to be internationally leading in the field of product evaluation through the research and development of advanced metrology technologies and methods focussing on business requirements and user experience.
The PET Research Group Vision is to be:
- Internationally leading in the development and application of advanced measurement systems for the evaluation of user controls, product geometry and healthcare applications. Outputs from this research will lead to the expansion of capabilities into Aerospace, Heritage and Marine sectors.
- Internationally leading in the development and application of advanced measurement systems for the evaluation of Automotive HMI Haptics research whcih aims to improve the experience of user interaction through the sense of touch. This research will be expanded to incorporate additional senses including vision, sound and smell to explore the mulitimodal effects of user perception. This will grow through the application of expertise within new industries including Aeropsace, Healthcare and Marine.
Research outputs are already internationally competitive in a number of areas and a clear vison of becoming leading within the core themes of Automotive HMI and Metrology Technologies has been set. One of major strengths of the team is the high level of industrial support that has been built up over the last 5 years. The reseach has formed key partnerships with companies including Jaguar Land Rover, TATA Motors, TVS Motor Company, and Nikon Metrology. A fundamental part of the future stratgey will also be diversifying the research within other industry sectors including Aerospace, Marine and Healthcare technology, which fits within the core strategy of WMG. These factors will form the foundation of a research group that has a clear vision of delivering high quality research and contributing to the future growth of WMG.
