Title: Making Hybrid and Electric Vehicles Sound a Better Proposition

Abstract:

This talk will introduce WMG’s new and unique Vehicle Energy Facility (which has received funding from Advantage West Midlands and the European Regional Development Fund as part of the Science City Research Alliance Energy Efficiency Project ) and some of WMG’s complementary research aimed at accelerating the introduction, and improving the performance and customer acceptance of hybrid and electric vehicles. In particular, it will focus on the relationship between driving behaviour and the energy efficiency of hybrid vehicles, and the challenge of designing sounds for electric vehicles.

Biography:

Prof. Paul Jennings has worked at WMG for over 20 years, and is now Head of the Digital Theme Group. Originally trained as a physicist, he now leads a multi-disciplinary research team working primarily with automotive and healthcare partners.
