Do you want to learn a new language or strengthen one you are already studying? Would you also like to understand the practices and processes that positively impact language learning at the same time? The BA in Linguistics with a Modern Language gives you the chance to do both.

Studying with us on the BA in Linguistics with a Modern Language gives you the choice of a range of linguistic and language-related modules across both the Centre for Applied Linguistics and the School of Modern Languages. This combination will give you skills in a modern language and the ability to develop detailed linguistic and cultural knowledge that can inform your understanding of language now and in the future. You may also choose to enhance your experience and apply your language and language learning skills with a year of study and/or work placement abroad.

With one of the largest foreign language offerings in the United Kingdom, you have the option to study languages including: French, Spanish, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian, Portuguese or Japanese.
