WHY IS A WORK PLACEMENT PART OF OUR MASTERS DEGREE?
One option you have as part of this degree is to try and find a work placement to gain experience in a workplace situation relevant to your interests or career aspirations.
A work placement offers the unique opportunity to apply the newly acquired knowledge of the MSc ICBP in a real-life context. It goes beyond in-class exercises and results in invaluable practical experiences that might turn out to be very useful in later jobs.
A work placement can be undertaken in conjunction with the major project in term 3 and lasts for at least four weeks. It counts as part of our degree programme and you will earn credits for it.
While finding a placement is your responsibility, we work with you to help facilitate your success. We run workshops on finding placements and approaching companies during term's 1 and 2, and Warwick Careers and Skills are also on hand to help out.
|A popular option on the MSc programme is to work in an organisation and gather first or additional working experiences. This option is a true test for your intercultural skills in a real work environment. Students who chose to work for an organisation often have the opportunity to carry out their research in the company. Sometimes this might even be part of the job description.|
Placements might differ strongly in terms of tasks. In some organisations, you might be involved in a larger project. In other organisations you might support the 'day-to-day operations' of the company. Students can either choose from our corporate partners (subject to availability) or find their own placement. Placements with corporate partners are subject to demand and are offered to students on a competitive basis. Therefore students have to apply by submitting a resume and (quite often) attending an interview. This process will help you prepare for applying for the job you want when you finish your degree.
|We have also teamed up with AIESEC and their Outgoing Global Internship Programme team, which offers placements all around the world.|
