Course Dates

The course will run each year in the autumn term (subject to demand)

Class Times

The course comprises 24 contact hours per week, including content input and language development/support. In addition, students will be expected to complete homework and other tasks outside of these contact hours.

Class Size

Classes will have a maximum of 17 students

How Will I be Assessed?

  • English and Second Language Acquisition: Powerpoint Presentation and video clip
  • English Language, Society and Context: Short survey-based research project, with report and final presentation
  • English and Intercultural Communication: 2 hour exam paper (2 questions to be answered from a choice of 7).
  • Introduction to British Culture through the Media: 1200-word essay (from a choice of titles)

Student Support

Each student will be allocated a Personal Tutor to help them with any personal or study difficulties.

The fee for the Undergraduate Diploma course 2019 is £4305 for the 10 week course. Concessionary group rates are available subject to negotiation.

Study Facilities

Students will have access to the main Library of the University and student IT resources. For classes tutors will use a combination of published and tailor-made materials. Self-access facilities are available in the department for additional private study. These include a multi-media centre and a well-stocked resources room with computers, books, cassettes and CD-ROMs that students can use in their own time. Books may be borrowed from the University of Warwick Library, or purchased from the bookshop on the campus.

Leisure Facilities

Students will be able to use the University’s excellent facilities which include a swimming pool, squash courts, tennis courts and sports halls. Banks, shops, bars and restaurants are also available on campus. For more information go to: Leisure facilities

Surrounding Area

The University is located in the Heart of England and is surrounded by places of historic and scenic interest. It stands at the centre of an excellent motorway network and fast Intercity rail services operate between Coventry and all major towns. Birmingham airport is close by for national and international flights. London is within easy reach.

In order to be offered a place on the course, students must reach the required standard of English (IELTS 5.5 or equivalent). They will need to provide an English language certificate and a copy of their passport. (with all relevant pages and including their visa). If they are a sponsored student, they must attach a copy of confirmation from their sponsors stating that they (the sponsor) will pay their fees.
