These pages provide news of conferences that draw on the findings of the BCRP.

BCRP One Day Conference - by invitation - 16th May 2012

This conference was originally planned as an open delegate event. However, as the BCRP final reports were delayed beyond May we were unable to have an open conference. Instead we held a conference for invited delegates who had been involved with the BCRP and representatives of key constituencies. Julie Dockrell, Geoff Lindsay, Sue Roulstone and James Law presented papers based on four main themes from the Programme's projects:

Understanding SLCN: profiles of research and provision (Julie Dockrell); Relationships between SLCN and behavioural, emotional and social needs (Geoff Lindsay); Effectiveness, costing and cost effectiveness of interventions for children and young people with SLCN (James Law); and Perspectives of children and young people with SLCN and their parents (Sue Roulstone)

In addition, Phil Snell (Department for Education) reviewed current government initiatives in special educational needs in general and SLCN in particular, and welcomed the success of the BCRP. Finally, our two 'critical friends' Susan Ellis Weismer (University of Wisconsin-Madison) and Bruce Tomblin (University of Iowa) provided an international perspective on the work of the BCRP.
