The 19 final reports from the BCRP were published by the Department for Education on 27th December 2012. The DfE has set up a dedicated BCRP page from which all reports, including the four previous reports can be accessed: https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/better-communication-research-programme
We have produced:
- Main Report which provides an overview and recommendations from the whole programme
- Thematic Reports which address four specific issues, drawing on research from different projects, and
- Technical Reports which provide the full details of the 10 research studies
- Two previously published Interim Reports.
Also a available on the DfE web link all three previously published reports.
We published two interim reports, in 2010 and 2011 respectively, which summarised the earlier stages of the BCRP. These contain two types of content:
- the early stages of developing studies which were reported finally as tehnical reports
- smaller scale studies which were reported in full
In Nov 2011 the DfE published one of our project reports. Early publication (rather than with the full body of final reports) was driven by government initiatives to review the Early Years Foundation Stage, in particular the review by Dame Clare Tickell. Led by Professor Maggie Snowling, this study provided important findings to contribute to the review:
Language and Literacy Attainment of Pupils during Early Years and through KS2: Does teacher assessment at five provide a valid measure of children’s current and future educational attainments? DFE-RR172a. London: DfE. https://www.education.gov.uk/publications/eOrderingDownload/DFE-RR172a.pdf
In June 2010 we published the first stage of a study led by Anna Vignoles. This was not published by DfE as the work was preparatory to the main study. We are, however, making this available through our own website: An investigation of pupils with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
We now have a number of papers published with others in preparation:
