MUSEUMS AND GALLERIES EDUCATION PROGRAMME PHASE 2 EVALUATION

Funded by DfES, this national programme brought together museums, galleries and schools to develop new ways of delivering the national curriculum. Building on the first phase, and focusing on pupils aged 5-16, it aimed to
use the collections and exhibitions of museums and galleries to enrich the national curriculum
contribute to raising standards of achievement amongst pupils
ensure that more pupils and teachers benefit from access to objects and images from museums and galleries
The programme was managed by engage, the National Association for Gallery Education and Resource, the Council for Museums, Archives and Libraries. It supported 117 projects across England. Led by the Centre for Education and Industry, this evaluation completed in August 2004.
