Ann Locke is qualified as a teacher, educational psychologist and speech and language therapist. She set up and directed one of only two Masters courses for teachers and speech and language therapists (SLTs) in England addressing the needs of children with language and communication impairment. She is a member of the steering group of the DfES funded project to devise a Joint Professional Development Framework for the teachers and SLTs. This will provide the basis for joint continuing professional development for teachers and SLTs to enhance provision for these children who are at the interface of education and health provision. Ann is a consultant to 5 Education Action Zones and is currently researching the impact of disdvantage in the spoken language skills of nursery age children. She is the author of Living Language, the highly respected programme for intervention with children having language difficulties.
