Current MA in Religions and Education

Why did you choose to study this course at the University of Warwick?
I am currently employed as a full time teacher, and was informed through my school about a small number of bursaries available through a charitable trust in the RE sector. Encouraged by this, I chose to apply, not only due to the financial support available (without which it would have been very difficult to even consider studying a Master’s at the moment) but also through my previous experience as a PGCE student under my current course leader at Warwick which I thoroughly enjoyed. The fact that the course is offered entirely by distance-learning was a big influencing factor so I leapt at the chance to apply and thankfully was accepted.

What have been the highlights of the programme so far?
I found the wide-ranging and stimulating selection of titles very interesting, along with the first essay 'Current Issues'. I felt that I performed very well as a result, along with the thoughtful and useful feedback and comments given by the course leader and assessors of the work I have submitted so far.

Would you recommend this course to a friend? Why?
I would certainly recommend this course to a friend or colleague working within the relevant sector. It represents not only an excellent opportunity to stop and reflect on practice, but gives synthesising insights which may be overlooked if not studied through a structured course like this due to the time-constraints associated with teaching. It is also as a form of continuing professional development, an engaging and rewarding academic challenge, and a chance to work with people whom I know and respect.
