Sara has taught in primary schools for the last 24 years and still teaches part time. Previous in-school roles include Head of English, Art coordinator and Leading Practitioner. She has also had responsibility for challenging all pupils, and for the learning environment.

Whilst teaching, Sara has always led training for colleagues in all of the above as well as mentoring many students and NQTs. She has led several in-school projects including:

• utilisation of University of First Age (UFA) strategies to maximise children’s learning potential
• using positive strategies to improve classroom behaviour
• using outstanding teaching interventions to improve staff effectiveness

As English subject lead, she has been instrumental in raising standards through rigorous curriculum interventions. Sara is passionate about building rapport with the pupils she teaches and uses active learning, children’s interests and the outdoor space to engage pupils: She calls this ‘Flearning’ (fun+learning).
