Qualifications

1. Degree*

Primary - An Honours Degree with a 2:2 (UK) or above. Other first degrees will be considered particularly if you have additional qualifications and/ or relevant experience.

Secondary - An Honours Degree with a 2:2 (UK) or above. Other first degrees will be considered particularly if you have additional qualifications and/ or relevant experience. You will be expected to have degree level knowledge of the subject you teach.

2. GCSEs/ O Levels/ CSEs*

Primary - GCSE / O Level Grade C or above in Mathematics, English and Science

Secondary - GCSE/ O Level Grade C or above in Mathematics and English

3. Professional Skills Tests

You must have also passed the Professional Skills Tests in Numeracy and Literacy before beginning the programme. Any problems, please cpd at warwick dot ac dot uk.

*For qualifications NOT gained in the UK, please check equivalency through UK NARIC.

Your Experience

4. Current role

You must be working as an unqualified teacher (paid or unpaid) in the UK in one of the following settings:
  • Mainstream school or academy
  • Free School
  • Independent School
  • Pupil Referral Unit
  • Special School*

*Candidates who are working in a Pupil Referral Unit or Special School will need to provide evidence of significant mainstream school experience.

5. Teaching Grade

You will have been observed by your school and your teaching graded as "Outstanding" or "Good".

6. Experience

You will be able to demonstrate that you have experience teaching across consecutive Key Stages in two or more schools/settings, including the school/setting you are currently working in within the last 2 years.

Your School

7. Support and/ or Sponsorship

You must have the full support of (or be sponsored by) your school. This will include a School Recommendation Letter. Please read more about your school support here.

Other

8. Location

You will be working within a 50 mile radius of The University of Warwick, CV4 7AL.

9. Vetting Check Form

You will need:

  • An up-to-date Vetting Check Form, confirming you hold a valid DBS check.

Fees

  • The Assessment Only programme to QTS/EYTS is £2,500 and can be paid either by you or your sponsoring school/setting
  • This route does not qualify for support from Student Finance.
  • There is also a £50 Application Fee.
